‘Love costs nothing’ – but fame cost Jennifer Lopez’s teenage twins a normal childhood.
The “Mother” star feels “guilt” for Emme and Maximilian’s lives in the public eye, she told Audacy in an interview Thursday.
“I think being the kid of famous parents isn’t something a lot of people can relate to, and I feel sorry for (my kids) because they didn’t choose that,” the singer shared. .
She noted that 15-year-olds “just started letting (her) know how people treat them… (when) they walk into” rooms.
“(Others) don’t see them for who they are,” Lopez said. “And I think that must be a very difficult thing for them. So I wish I could protect them from that.
Additionally, the Grammy winner opened up about her and ex-husband Marc Anthony’s children being “judged” by strangers.
“Everyone has to deal with bullying. No matter who you are, you can be bullied,” she said. “But…they know there’s a lens on them, and it’s hard.”
Despite the “guilt” she feels about the dynamic, Lopez doesn’t plan to shield Emme and Maximilian from anything negative.
“Pain is necessary. The pain is really good,” she explained. “Pain makes you feel a bit like a warrior when you go through it.”

The songwriter welcomed his twins in 2008 with Anthony, six years before finalizing his divorce from the 54-year-old.
Lopez remarried in 2022 to Ben Affleck, who is the father of three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14 and Samuel, 11.
The actor’s parenting skills “often bring tears to Lopez’s eyes” while raising their blended family, she told “The View” audiences earlier this month.
“He’s an amazing dad,” the actress exclaimed at the time. “He’s honestly the best dad I’ve ever seen.”
Her relationship with Affleck made headlines last week after a tense exchange on the red carpet at the premiere of “Mother” was caught on video and analyzed by lip readers.
Days earlier, the ‘Air’ star was filmed slamming a car door on his wife, followed by a ‘frustrated’ conversation in public the next day – but a source told Page Six Affleck is not than a “lively” speaker.
The “Gigli” co-stars were first engaged from 2002 to 2004, giving their romance a second chance in 2021.
