It’s such a rare name to start with!

We’ve already written about K-Pop idols with some of the rarest names in the industry, both first and last names. Some of these names are just plain rare in K-Pop, while others are rare in the world as a whole.
When it comes to two idols, their names are so rare that they were the only boys born into the world in their birth year to bear their names – and they both ended up in the K-industry. Pop!
Kim Taerae of STORM was born on May 9, 2002 – which means he just turned 21! – and is the rapper and maknae of his group. In the meantime, Kim Taerae of ZEROBASEONE was born on July 14, 2002. They are the only two male Taeraes born in 2002, and they also happen to share the same last name!
According to online statistics, there were only three Taeraes born in 2002 – a girl, with the two idols – and the name is so rare that between 2008 and 2023, only 20 people were born with this name (with the last born in 2018).
When TEMPEST’s Taerae was told about member ZEROBASEONE a few months ago (back when the trainee was a contestant on Planet Boys), member TEMPEST expressed his desire to greet his name share if they ever had the opportunity to meet.
The fact alone that the only two male Taeraes born in 2002 have become K-Pop idols is quite amazing, but it turns out that the two have already had the chance to meet thanks to KCON Japan 2023!
Both TEMPEST and ZEROBASEONE attended the event, which was held from May 12-14. Not only were the two captured greeting each other, but TEMPEST’s Taerae also mentioned the moment later in messages to fans!

It would be great if the two develop a friendship over their common names and occupations! A Reddit thread was even created about their meeting, with K-Pop fans feeling loved by the whole situation.
