
SKID RANK was forced to cancel his concert tonight (Wednesday May 17) at the Triffid in Brisbane, Australia, after the singer Erik Grönwall fell ill with the flu.
Earlier today, SKID RANK issued the following statement via social media: “To the SKID RANK faithful, we unfortunately have to cancel our sold-out show in Brisbane tonight. This morning Erik woke up sick and by sound check he was losing his voice and feeling the effects of a real flu. He will see a doctor first thing tomorrow and expects all systems to work for Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and want you to know that we are as disappointed as all of you.”
The Brisbane show was part of SKID RANKThe four-date Australian tour, which was originally scheduled to take place in December 2022 but was postponed due to guitarist Dave “Snake” Saboneck surgery.
Erikwho made his recording debut with SKID RANK on the recently released studio album, “The Gang is All There”spoke to The Rock N’ Roll & Coffee Show about how he’s been accepted by the band’s fans since joining the band last year as a replacement for PZ Théart. He said: “There are so many different types of fans. I realized that… Because when we did the show in California, (some) people came up to me after the show, and they were, like, ‘Sebastian (Bach), you still have it.’ (Laughs) Yeah, it happened. Then you have the fans who still think that Sebastian is in the band, and then you have the fans who know the whole story.”
Erik went on to say that he isn’t bothered that some fans are still calling for a reunion of the band’s classic lineup.
“I understand the fan perspective of wanting original programming – I understand that – because I’m a Good Scott man myself,” he explained, referencing AC DCis the deceased singer. “But I think people are really excited about this new album, and I feel like even those who want the original lineup are starting to approve of it.”
He added, “When I joined this band, I realized it was such a privilege to have people so interested in the band, talking about the band, discussing everything. A lot of bands would kill for that, and it’s a privilege. You have all these people talking about SKID RANK and they love this singer or they love this song or they love this era, and it’s just amazing, to have people so excited about it or to hate it. (Laughs)”

green wall was a member of the Swedish hard rock band HEAT with whom he recorded four studio albums — “Address the Nation” (2012),“Tear Down the Walls” (2014),“Into the Great Unknown” (2017) and “HEAT II” (2020) — before leaving the group in October 2020.
In September 2021, green wall announced that he was cured of cancer after receiving a bone marrow transplant. “A wonderful, anonymous human being somewhere in the world donated his blood cells so that I could have a second chance at life,” he said.
