SLIPKNOT’s MICK THOMSON Joins ESP Guitars Artist Roster

ESP Guitars announced that the acclaimed guitarist Mick Thompson from the iconic American metal band NOOSE joined the ESP list of artists. The company has also confirmed that a new ESP/LTD Signature Series guitar is in development for Thomson.

“We are delighted to welcome Mike as a member of ESP family,” says Tony Rauser, ESP Director of Artist Relations. “Mike is one of the most respected and influential players in the metal guitar world. The intensity of his aggressive style of play with NOOSE perfectly matches the energy of ESP.”

“I couldn’t be happier to be in the ESP family,” said Thomson. “So impressed with everything I’ve played live, and there’s great energy with everyone I’ve dealt with. We’re working on the specs for some customs right now that I know will be deadly. It took longer than expected, because deciding on a model was not easy. Too many possibilities for monster guitars. Admittedly, it was a big problem to have.”

Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Thomson joined NOOSE in 1996, shortly after its initial formation. The group was nominated for 10 grammys awards and received a host of other accolades. NOOSE has sold over 30 million albums worldwide since releasing their self-titled debut album in 1999. Known in NOOSE like #7, ThomsonHis innovative guitar style won praise from a wide range of metal publications, and was described as highly influential on many players who sought to capture his unique blend of muted riffs and hypnotic lead lines. In addition to seven studio albums, NOOSE released two live albums, one compilation album and five live DVDs. Their last album, “The End, So Far”was released in September 2022.
